L Chance Shiver is a Science Fiction writer living on a small mountain near Asheville, North Carolina. Native to Washington, DC and surrounding Virginia and Maryland,  however, Chance is still deeply tied to Washington and particularly to the area surrounding Rock Creek, the Potomac River and the C&O Canal National Park. These settings figure prominently in the his forthcoming novel, Oberlin’s Anomaly.

When not writing Chance spends most of his time looking east from his mountain home to the Blue Ridge Mountains and touring the South East playing early country and Old-time music with his wife Susette as their duet, The Shivers.

Chance has been a part of the Great Smokies Writers Program at UNC Asheville for some years and has been published by the Great Smokies Review.

Oberlin’s Anomaly, his first full-length novel, is a Sci-Fi thriller that takes place primarily along the C&O Canal near Georgetown in Washington, DC
