Glen Echo Amusement Park, Cabin John Maryland

The historic Glen Echo Amusement park, just outside Washington, DC, is an important setting in Oberlin’s Anomaly and in the life of the author. Through much of the novel action takes place near, within, and outside the park in historic flashbacks and in the current time. The author rode the Dentzel Carousel, the heart of the park, in his childhood, and he and his wife were married beside it in what is now Glen Echo National Park.

This video captures the spirit of the park in earlier days and goes on to show Marshall Hall, another DC amusement park.

Here the historic carousel has been restored.
